Those who have donated to the Alumni Association’s scholarship can know their giving has made a direct impact on many.
This year’s recipient not only has benefited from the scholarship but also plans to use her education to help others.
Kristin Young Holder graduated from Richland Community College in 2006 as an education major. She now attends Millikin University where her interest changed to communications. Kristin plans to graduate from Millikin in the summer or fall of 2008 and enroll in the Communications Master’s Program at the University of Illinois in Springfield.
Kristin applied for the Alumni Scholarship because she is returning to Richland for a pre-requisite requirement for the Master’s Program.
“I would definitely recommend Richland to anyone. Start at Richland – it is convenient, cheaper, and now I can go anywhere and not be in debt.”
After completion of her Master’s program, Kristin plans to seek a government position or to work for a not-for-profit organization at the community level where she would like to be a grant writer.
