Matthew Dougherty of Lexington, Virginia, has been selected as Richland Community College's Pacesetter Award Winner for 2008. Matt graduated from Richland in December 2003 with his Associate in Science Degree.
During his two years at Richland, Matt served as the student member of the Board of Trustees from 2002-2003 and was a member of the Honors Program. Matt went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science in International Finance from Illinois State University, graduating summa cum laude. Matt also is the recipient of many honors and awards that include Congressional Scholarship from 2000-2004 and Student Liaison to Cuba in the spring of 2003.
Currently, Matt is a third year law student at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He is a candidate for his Juris Doctor and is expected to graduate in May of 2008. While at Washington and Lee University, Matt received an Academic Scholarship. Matt plans to return to Illinois and practice law.
